Description
Mainstream Engineering proposes to develop a ruggedized fan coil assembly (RFCA) for Navy surface ship compartment cooling. Mainstream’s RFCA provides a 13% increase in net capacity, 74% reduction in power, 58% reduction in weight, 40% reduction in chilled water usage while meeting the structural and environmental requirements of legacy fan coil assemblies (FCAs). The RFCA addresses the key size weight and power limitations of legacy FCAs by employing a novel copper microchannel heat exchanger, using an efficient variable speed fan, and replacing the aerodynamically inefficient and heavy steel cabinet structure with a lightweight, ruggedized enclosure with smooth airflow pathways.
