Description
The Navy has a growing fleet of unmanned undersea vehicles (UUVs) aboard their vessels. UUVs have a variety of manufacturers and come in a large range of sizes. Currently there is no common system for storing, launching, and recovering UUVs. Mainstream is proposing a universal device that is capable of performing these tasks on vehicles up to 20 feet in length, 6 inches to 2 feet in diameter, and weights up to 2500 lbs. Key features include a quick-grip clamping system, a telescoping chassis, and various methods of launch/recovery. The device is fully configurable and stackable to save on space aboard naval vessels and optimize storage footprint. With the implementation of Mainstream’s device operation, maintenance, and cost will all be streamlined for handling a growing fleet of UUVs.
