Description
The cryogenic temperatures required for many traditional infrared detectors limits their viability for many Air Force-relevant platforms including cubesats, smallsats, and UAVs. To support improved detection capabilities on these platforms, Nanohmics proposes to develop a high-sensitivity GHz-bandwidth room-temperature IR detector. The underlying detector technology will enable and advance several emerging laser-based remote sensing technologies relevant to the Air Force including lidar, frequency comb spectroscopy, and lasercom.
