Description
Phase I technical objectives comprise studying/evaluating viability and performance of different types of Linear Frequency Modulated (LFM), phase coded, frequency codes, Stepped Frequency Waveforms (SFW), 3-dimensional Spatial Waveforms (3DSW), and other (as directed by the Government) waveforms in the context of recent X-Band Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) and Digital Receiver-Exciter (DREX) developments. We assess these waveforms viability to enhance radars performance (mainly discrimination) and robustness in the presence of heavy clutter and Electronic Attack (EA) environments. These waveforms will be tested/evaluated using MATLAB-based simulation of X-Band radars. For this purpose, we employ matched filtering and stretch pulse-compression techniques, and include high fidelity atmospheric and refraction modeling in our analysis. We analyze potential enhancements to the waveforms under consideration to assess performance enhancements to X-Band radars in the context of Electronic Protection (EP) and advanced discrimination techniques. Finally, we down-select candidate waveforms for future X-Band radars applications. Approved for Public Release | 21-MDA-11013 (19 Nov 21)
