Description
The objective of this Phase II effort is to develop the Flight Control System (FCS) for Aerial Reconfigurable Embedded System (ARES) Demonstration Vehicle (DV). ARES is a modular multi-mission VTOL Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) platform focused on addressing emerging requirements within DoD and commercial markets for on-demand distributed logistics, emergency medical services, and other missions. The ARES FCS leverages commercial off the shelf Fly-by-Wire (FBW) Flight Control Computers (FCC), Piasecki designed Actuator Control Modules (ACM) and other interface hardware and software to create a safe and triple-redundant FCS that can be adapted to carry troops/passengers at a fraction of the cost of traditional military FBW development. This Phase II will develop and test Software Load 1 for all FCS components including FCCs, ACMs, Control Laws (CLAW) and Ground Control System (GCS).
