Particle Industries, Inc. — Department of Defense SBIR Phase I: HR001121S0007-16

Description

Under this proposed Phase I contract, Particle will execute a regimented plan to develop an advanced, first-of-its-kind Maritime Sensor Data System (MSDS), done in close collaboration with the technical point of contact and tailored to user requirements. This solution will be developed alongside Particle’s existing commercial customers, remaining mindful of future dual uses of the technology.During the proposed Phase I period of performance, Particle will take the opportunity to learn about user needs, meeting with prospective customers both in the commercial space and inside the U.S. military. Technical requirements will be explored and validated through active development of basic prototypes and development of foundational IP. This experience will inform a much stronger, more detailed point of view on the industry, allowing Particle to make better design decisions as it builds a final product.  Particle will create basic functional prototype devices during Phase I which will integrate with a marine vessel and demonstrate the physical integration, user interface, and analytical capabilities. This reflects Particle’s approach to product development -- hardware iteration starts early and industry research and design efforts are informed by fast iterations in hardware and software.
