Description
QuNav teams up with University of Colorado Boulder (CU Boulder) and proposes to develop and demonstrate a prototype of Multi-constellation, High sensitivity, Integrated (MHI) LEO-PNT software defined radio (SDR) that can be used as a component in the context of the Army’s PNT Operating System (pntOS) to enable maximum application for dismounted Soldiers and Mounted vehicles. MHI-LEO-PNT will extract timing as well as carrier phase and frequency information from LEO waveforms by exploiting their features in modulations, multi-access schemes, and spread spectrum methods (CSS, DSSS, FHSS). The PNT accuracy will be enabled an integrated mechanization that utilizes a consumer-grade MEMS inertial to enable multipath mitigation (via adaptive residual screening), high-sensitivity processing (via extended signal accumulation), and precise Doppler positioning. Furthermore, MHI-LEO-PNT will take advantage of opportunistic motion constraints such as zero-velocity updates and straight displacement as additional observations for system self-calibration (including refinement of LEO orbit and clock estimation). Finally, the fusion algorithm of MHI-LEO-PNT will support cooperative PNT such that information is shared between units with two-way ranging via a tactical data link. As a group, more satellites from different constellations become visible, and a disadvantaged unit can benefit from networked units as anchors.
