Description
Swarms and constellations of satellites are envisioned to support a new paradigm in military operations, with hundreds or thousands of interconnected assets delivering new capabilities. An autonomy architectural paradigm for multi-asset operations shall be able to act in a responsive manner without the need for ground intervention. Defining an architectural and algorithmic approach to enable fully decentralized mission management including task allocation and execution, capable of on-line composition of multiple concurrent mission kill-chains in a networked system, which is robust to natural and manmade disruptions, will significantly increase the ability and resiliency in executing and truly enable a multi-domain paradigm-shifting new capability. We propose a machine to machine autonomous collaborative software solution designed to be robust to disruption, implementing an effective algorithmic approach for mission resource coordination that detects, predicts, and takes into account the network state, enabling it to adapt itself to network variations, ensuring high mission success. As integrated, CMA-RHINO encompasses a behavior-based autonomy software solution enabling the key capabilities. The software will integrate mission level behaviors, including the mission controller executive, specific mission behaviors that enable high resiliency and multi-teaming coordination as well as customizable mission specific and platform level behaviors including vehicle and payload level platforms.
