Description
Skyloom Global Corp. will develop an optical 10 Gbps LEO-LEO and LEO-Ground Optical Intersatellite Link (OISL) terminal (V’Ger-T1). We will perform the detail of all subsystems, complete subsystem and system-level integration to finalize with a fully tested, ready to fly high data rate OISL prototype terminal. Our design will be fully interoperable and compatible with SDA Transport Layer Tranche 1. It will demonstrate benefits including improved availability, security, and resiliency at higher data throughput and reduced cost compared. Skyloom already offers LEO satellite data transfer services commercially. Skyloom will deliver the first LEO-LEO OISL to the customer for spacecraft integration and launch in Q4-2021. Several V’Ger-T1 key components/subsystems are identical to V’Ger, such as the telescope assembly, gimbal design and actuators, general architecture, and ATP sub-system. The design improvements for this proposed Phase II are focused on the modem capabilities and pre-amplified detection. Therefore, Skyloom is able to enter into this Phase II directly at TRL 3. Skyloom expects to customize capabilities that are specific to defense applications including a secure U.S. based supply chain and technical upgrades such as redundant systems, increased reliability/lifetime, and even more robust encryption support, if requested.
