Description
Currently, except few ground-based telescopes and radars, 99% of the ground-based space debris detection systems do not have capability to detect micro-debris under 10 cm. Those debris orbits around the earth at tremendous speeds (~15,700 miles/hr) could cause significant damage to satellites in case of a collision even with a piece of space debris the size of a blueberry. Spectral Energies and Purdue team proposes to develop novel data mining and machine learning based software for high-resolution in-orbit debris detection and surveillance.
