Description

Toyon Research Corporation proposes to modify an existing mobile cloud-computing (MCC) software application to function as a Tactical Assault Kit (TAK) Server in contested networking environments on the tactical edge. The proposed program will primarily focus on the development of decentralized distribution algorithms to efficiently disseminate Cursor-on-Target (CoT) messages to all relevant nodes on the fog network. Integration of the developed distribution or routing algorithm will produce what we refer to as the Fragmentary TAK (FTAK) Server.   The FTAK Server will function as a replacement to the centralized TAK Server when disconnected from the internet, and seamlessly update both the edge network devices and centralized network. The proposed program will demonstrate, within the first year, the basic framework of the FTAK architecture using small, lightweight, low-power, commercially available components. The FTAK Server will be capable of dynamically adding and removing nodes on the tactical edge. The fully developed system will be available as an ATAK Plugin or a standalone application for platforms other than Android. The system will also support authentication and communication security protocols to ensure privacy, integrity, and authenticity of data on the decentralized network.
