Description
Triton is developing an acoustic tomography system for tactical sonobuoy sensors to estimate the three-dimensional sound-speed field to increase environmental situational awareness. This process will occur automatically and not increase the workload of sonar operators. During the Phase I effort we will study the accuracy of our tomography algorithm as a function of spatial uncertainty and time of arrival uncertainty. This tomography algorithm will improve environmental situational awareness over existing GDEM and HYCOM environmental models currently available.
