Description
Triton Systems, Inc. and partners will develop a launch and recovery system for on-board handling and servicing of the Navy's fleet of XLUUVs that can be used on amphibious platforms such as the LPD 17 Class ships. Currently, XLUUV operations are shore-based, liming the mission area for the XLUUVs. Existing launch and recovery systems are either too specialized to be adapted to the LPD 17 Class, and the XLUUV or are not feasible to scale the existing systems to meet the size and weight requirements of the XLUUV. A new launch and recovery system for on-board handling and servicing would extend the XLUUV fleet's capabilities by providing the Navy with a mobile base from which to conduct XLUUV missions. In Phase I, Triton will develop a concept and show feasibility for the launch and recovery system that can be used on an LDP 17 class of ship.
