TRITON SYSTEMS, INC. — Department of Homeland Security SBIR Phase II: DHS211-005

Description

In response to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) SBIR Topic DHS211-005, titled Amphibious XTV for Ice Rescue, Triton Systems, Inc., a SBA Tibbetts Award Winner (2016) for Success in Commercializing SBIR-derived technologies, working with partners, plans to further develop an amphibious Xtreme Terrain Vehicle (XTV) based on a COTS amphibious vehicle platform (or equivalent) to facilitate United States Coast Guard (USCG) ice rescue missions quickly and safely. This project leverages Triton’s experience developing augmented vehicles for the military, including work in autonomous navigation systems and extensive robotic ground vehicle expertise.In Phase II, the team will develop, test and validate the practical implementation of the prototype system outlined in Phase I. The prototype will be designed to minimize life-cycle cost, allow for easy maintenance and conform to existing common boat parts to gain sustainment efficiencies. The prototype will be demonstrated in a realistic test and evaluation environment. Validation of requirements will be performed in an end-to-end operational viability demonstration.In Phase III, the team will transition the vehicle to a field-ready solution for the USCG. After meeting the USCG’s need, Triton plans to pursue additional applications such as USG (DHS/CBP, and DoD) as well as state and local law enforcement and first responders performing search and rescue operations near bodies of water in cold regions.
