Description
This proposal outlines a Phase I SBIR effort to develop a <18 inch, thermally insensitive, radiation-hardened, infrared (IR) - reflective telescope design for use on interceptors. Using a combination of novel materials and additive manufacturing, Wyzkyds plans to create a system that will be applicable to all future missile designs. This new telescope will be composed primarily of silicon carbide (SiC). This project could yield a telescope that has improved performance at thermal extremes and in high-endo- and exo-atmospheric applications, and that will retain functionality even in environments where it is subjected to the effects of a nuclear event.
