AccuShoot, Inc. — Department of Defense SBIR Phase I: AF203-CSO1

Description

The United States Department of Defense currently encompasses roughly 1.388 million active duty and 849,000 reserve personnel across it’s Armed Forces Service branches.  Every personnel goes through basic firearms training and is expected to obtain a minimal standard of proficiency with firearms as outlined by order of the Secretary of the Air Force within Air Force Manual 36-2655 on April 12th, 2020. Considering these first year U.S. Military recruits, AccuShoot can deliver significant savings by reducing the rounds of ammunition necessary to train recruits during initial training and regular maintenance sessions to retain proper muscle memory throughout the year. Warfighters are also very limited by the size and weight of their total combat loadouts.  The more weight they carry, the less effective they become at accomplishing their given mission.  Multiple fully-loaded magazines being carried on a warfighter can contribute to a significant portion of their overall loadout, making the ability to effectively and accurately utilize each round of ammunition carried that much more important. Current methods used to score and monitor shooters are very manual, time-consuming and fragmented.  Paper targets are still being scored manually, and spotters used for real-time shooter feedback. Data on previous engagements “D.O.P.E.” books are no longer an effective method of tracking and scoring shooting data within the modern era (21st Century).   AccuShoot is a newly-formed company spinning out of BigML Inc., that aims to digitize the complex process of shooting by using machine learning-based computer vision and other AI techniques. AccuShoot is going to become a leading player with the capability to analyze a live feed of video and audio data to score both the shooter and the target in real-time.  AccuShoot will additionally track the precision and accuracy of each shooting session by creating a shooter’s and will automatically generate drill recommendations to become a more accurate and proficient shooter over time.
