Description

Amidst increasing demands for training and sustaining skills and the unique demands of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Air Force School for Aerospace Medicine (USAFSAM) needs easily adaptable training solutions that can support distributed, distanced learning. We propose to build upon our VITAMMINS TRL 7 patient simulator and TRL 8 tutor, a researched, developed, and experimentally validated adaptive learning platform, using existing tools and proven methods to provide USAFSAM with a customized and adaptable Aerospace Medicine version of the tutor and simulation (AM?VITAMMINS). This effort ties in with Charles River Analytics’ larger transition and commercialization efforts to expand our MedSim medical training tool suite, which has been developed and customized in partnership with multiple civilian hospitals and simulation laboratories throughout the U.S. who are also our potential customers. In Phase I, we will work closely with Col. Dukes and Dr. Lazarus at USAFSAM to clarify their needs, identify the best target for initial transition in Phase II, and develop a transition plan through Phase III and sustainment to provide a customized distributed learning platform that directly meets the needs of their instructors and trainees.
