Description
This SBIR requests demonstration of UxV manufacturability in a design efficient, cost efficient manner, close to the point of use. These manufactured items will be used to support UxV vehicles with various loadings up to full ocean depth with calculated factors of safety and life cycles. Rapid turnaround from concept to service are vital. Goetz Composites proposes to study the use of additive manufacturing, reinforce with structural filament yarns comingled with embedded strain sensors. Successful production of high strength parts with sensors will allow smart components to be made in the field at the point of use. Goetz Composites will deliver a 3D printed functional prototype underwater pressure vessel with printed embedded strain sensors.
