Description

Army medics need to quickly assess the wounded soldier, provide medical intervention, manage life-threatening injuries, and monitor their condition throughout transport. In many cases, the caregiver does not know the nature of their patient’s illness or mechanism of injury, and have limited ability to communicate with the patient considering their diminished level of alertness or consciousness. Cornerstone Research Group (CRG) proposes the development of a Modular Interior Mobile Medic Seat System (MIMMSS) to meet the Army’s current medical vehicle needs and requirements. In the Phase I, CRG will develop conceptual models capable of articulating, as well as translating along the length and width of the litter. In addition, CRG will perform component-level finite element analysis to ensure the system will meet structural performance requirements. This system will be expanded later to integrate into AMPV’s, other Army vehicles, and have the ability to translate/articulate electronically if desired. Implementation of this system allows Army medics to assess and treat injured warfighters to the best of their ability while safely restrained properly in their seat.
