Description

While laminated bus bars enjoy wide adoption for medium voltage power distribution, shipboard environments introduce unique stressors that accelerate failure modes in both the insulation material and bus bar connector interfaces when integrated with non-conforming material. Cornerstone Research Group Inc. (CRG) and teaming partner propose to leverage innovations in the material science of insulation and the mechanics of surface behavior, to develop a superior flexible film coating optimized for high voltage busbar applications. CRG’s extensive experience with novel materials development and synthesis, along with teaming partners extensive power systems manufacturing experience positions the proposing team for successful prototype build and demonstration of an Engineered Bus Bar Advanced Insulation Technology.
