Description
A colorimetric ticket is a cheap, disposable sensor comprising a set of chemically reactive indicators that are printed on a paper-like substrate using chromogenic inks that change color when exposed to certain chemicals. Using different combinations of inks to print the indicators, colorimetric tickets can selectively detect a wide variety of chemically diverse substances. Decades of research in several laboratories have amply validated this technology, but its commercial viability has been limited to a few applications due to the availability of chemically diverse colorimetric assays. To overcome this limitation, ChromoCodec is developing a diverse portfolio of chromogenic inks that enable a commercial off-the-shelf inkjet printer to print colorimetric tickets on demand. Colorimetric tickets can be customized in the field to target specific threat agents as they emerge, simply by selecting appropriate inks from our inkjet assay kit. This proposed work will lead to the development of a catalog of standardized assay kits that cover a broad range of industries, including defense.
