Description
The proposed solution for a self-deployable electric multi-rotor portable personal air mobility system is a novel configuration that takes advantage of large diameter rotors for primary lift while additionally using additional smaller propellers for directed thrust to control attitude. Similar vehicles like a helicopter are inherently complex with small mechanisms and single points of failure and a multi-copter (tri/quad/hex/etc) configuration has a low power/lift ratio and would not be able to transport a human in a portable vehicle. The proposed solution benefits from both styles to be high lift while being mechanically simple and scalable. The self-deployed system is primarily controlled by electronic flight controllers to eliminate the need for extensive flight training and enables a single man setup. It is also configured for full system redundancy for additional safety for human flight and is all electric for rapid battery swapping or field charging.
