Description

To maintain global superiority, the Department of Defense (DoD) must be capable of rapidly deploying forces to potential conflict zones. Maintenance and corrosion control of deployed assets is critical to the long-term success of these missions. Corrosion control processes release several hazardous substances into the air which affect both protected workers inside the structure, and unprotected personnel in surrounding areas. Legacy structures offer limited protection from the spread of these contaminants and are often not durable enough to withstand the harsh environments unique to corrosion control and maintenance work. Figure Engineering is proposing to develop rapidly deployable corrosion control facilities that are modular, range in size from walk-in to F-22 hanger, are capable of airlift, and can be assembled in weeks by maintainers using simple hand tools. This Phase II will include a full design of the deployable structure with fabrication and demonstration of key components to customers and stakeholders to allow transition into Phase III.
