Description
IERUS Technologies proposes to simulate the AFSD process using a Lagrangian particle model based on the smoothed particle hydrodynamics (SPH) computational method to determine the temperature history, material flow pattern, deposited microstructure and ultimately predict static strength and fatigue life. Since SPH is a meshless method, it has advantages in solving complex interface and free surface deformation, and can readily track deformation (strain and strain rate histories) and temperature history of the particles. IERUS plans to develop a computational modeling framework incorporating the SPH model with legacy phase field, crystal plasticity, and fatigue models; to provide a single simulation tool to optimize the repair of aircraft components for improved static strength and fatigue life.
