Description

In this SBIR Phase I project, the principles of a novel true random signal generator will be addressed with the goal of proving the concept. The concept has the potential for enable secure communications while exhibiting low power dissipation, and is a strong contender for being the basis of a transformational communications technology. In particular, the concept has the potential to implement the same function with at least three orders of magnitude lower power consumption than conventional IC technologies, i.e., CMOS, which suggests applicability for minimizing system#39;s Size, Weight, and Power (SWaP). The concept exploits the quantum mechanical field existing in a cavity due to vacuum fluctuation and random Brownian motion. The concept may be realized both using established semiconductor manufacturing know how and infrastructure as well as emerging graphene technology
