Description
The proposed solution addresses the need for an autonomous fleet (SWARM) of Crawling Amphibious Breaching Vehicles (CRABs) to cooperatively clear assault lanes in the surf zone and on the beach. The system uses a simple track configuration and construction methods to trigger pressure fused, magnetic influence, and tilt rod fused mines in shallow water and on the beach. These vehicles incorporate lane marking beacon systems and changeable disposal tools used for defeating non-explosive obstacles. The system is supported by a hybrid acoustic and RF communication system, a deployable position estimation aide, and a well-developed autonomy/perception engine. Successful implementation and test will allow transition of the potentially dual use technology to provide surf zone data sampling and survey.
