Shape Fidelity specializes in supporting Aerospace Manufacturing operations with 3D digital scanning and modeling - 80% of our business is directly related to this business sector. Since our founding, Shape Fidelity has developed extensive capabilities around supporting Aerospace Manufacturing with as-built digital feedback during the manufacturing processes. One of the biggest challenges we face is that commercially available metrology systems were largely designed to work in an automotive environment where the components are much smaller with looser tolerances. Other challenges include the manual nature of each large-scale project, the constraints/cost/unavailability of automation software and hardware, the requirement for adhesive targets in production settings, and the expertise required to fuse data from multiple systems and software from multiple vendors. There is a need for automated, accurate, reliable digital capture systems specifically designed for Aerospace Manufacturing. Not one size fits all, not simply reverse engineering or inspection.
