Description

Energy to Power Solutions (e2P) has teamed with quench detection (QD) expert Dr. Yuri Lvovsky (retired GE), Dr. Sastry Pamidi of the Center for Advanced Power Systems (FSU-CAPS), and American Superconductor Corporation (AMSC) to design, fabricate, and test a robust, reliable, and low cost QD system. e2P’s proposed system is a vastly different quench avoidance system that will provide multiple levels of noise cancellation, thus providing it with a QD threshold sensitivity far beyond what is possible using uncompensated systems, acoustic emissions, or even optical techniques. e2P’s proprietary system is a quench AVOIDANCE system that is insensitive to mechanical vibrations (e.g. ocean/sea wave impact, periodic weapon discharge, nearby mine detonation, GM cryocooler, etc.) and extremely low cost, making it technically and economically suitable for rapid implementation on the Navy’s unmanned HTS MS platform.
