Description
In this Phase I effort, TRI Austin, Inc. and APESolutions, Inc. will extend the capabilities of the FastenerCam™ hand-held profilometer system to countersunk holes. This will allow FastenerCam™ to have full capabilities across straight-shank and countersunk holes to perform quality assurance of cold-expanded holes in metallic, legacy USAF weapon systems. A-10 has issued a letter of support for this effort, which would allow FastenerCam™ to be deployed as a QA/QC tool, allowing risk engineers to take full advantage of the compressive residual stress field slowing fatigue crack growth from fastener holes, extending inspection intervals, providing significant cost and schedule savings.
