Description
Triton Systems, Inc. will develop an innovative hydraulic stud welder to be used by divers for the U.S. Navy to perform underwater ship repairs and salvages on Littoral Combat Ships. No current solution exists that is lightweight and easy to use for divers for the underwater stud welding of aluminum. Triton’s innovative hydraulic stud welder will be able to accept a minimum of ½ inch stud diameter and be able to wet weld aluminum to a minimum hull thickness of 3/8 inch. This solution will enable the U.S. Navy to perform underwater ship husbandry that would normally require dry-docking. In Phase I, Triton will design and demonstrate a solution that meets all the necessary requirements and verify with non-destructive and destructive testing standards
