Description
Triton will develop an accurate and accessible analytical modeling tool that couples multiphysics inputs to predict static strength and fatigue life of a solid-state materials consolidation process for structural repairs of metallic structural aircraft components for the Navy. This tool will incorporate thermal, mechanical, and metallurgical phenomena to predict thermal history and residual stresses in Phase I. In Phase II, the model will be further refined to predict bond strength, as well as damage initiation and progression of solid-state repaired components under static and fatigue loading. Validation studies will be completed to benchmark the computational results with experimental data, ensuring accuracy.
