Description
In Phase I, in response to Army SBIR Topic A19-134, Triton Systems Triton Systems developed sensor electronics to measure muzzle velocity using electric field (e-field) perturbations to detect a projectile passing a pair of sensors. With known distance between sensors and measured differential time, muzzle velocity is calculated and transmitted to a ballistic weather meter to inform operator of firing conditions so as to improve subsequent shots. Triton demonstrated this e-field technology on the laboratory benchtop and in the field (live ammunition). In Phase II, Triton will further develop its Real Time Muzzle Velocity Feedback System (RTMVFS), evaluate system performance with benchtop and live fire testing, install the system in a COTS suppressor, and demonstrate system efficacy and accuracy to the U.S. Army. Thereafter, Triton will fabricate a quantity of Real Time Muzzle Velocity Feedback Systems for further evaluation by U.S. Army. In Phase III, Triton will work with its transition partner to bring the system to production level integrity and will develop other markets for this technology.
