Description
The DOE seeks: Low-cost reliable add-on sensors and controls for improved commissioning, operation, and maintenance of ventilation systems and, Smart ventilation / IAQ tools that integrate with systems and components that optimize IAQ and minimize energy use based on indoor and outdoor air quality and weather data. Ventamatic will primarily validate the performance of its low-cost prototype flow sensor and integrate software that improves performance and increases confidence in commissioning. Using early work as a springboard, Ventamatic will secondarily initiate efforts for knowledge base to build comprehensive ventilation controls that interact with on-site and web data, utilize smart algorithms from previous DOE investments and improve performance of IAQ in homes while lowering the energy impact needed to improve public health. Primarily, we will validate and integrate into an actual product a flow (CFM) sensor using basic controls for commissioning, operations and ongoing performance. In addition, we will work through communication (data sharing and collection) methodologies in three specific areas preparing the basis for the comprehensive smart fresh air platform. We will set the framework for the platform with designs for protype products and create the initial software framework for the advance data and controls needed to improve performance.
