Description

The purpose of this proposal is to meet the needs outlined in Navy SBIR topic N211-024.  Zippertubing proposes to help develop a sunshade cover for use with a munitions lifting assembly and meeting all associated performance requirements.  Zippertubing will research adequate materials and work with vendors to determine what modifications or custom formulations will be required to meet or exceed all of the material requirements.  Zippertubing will also work with NAVSEA, NOSSA, and USMC engineers as required to determine the best sunshade cover design.  Zippertubing will use these inputs to create a set of production drawings for a full sunshade assembly.  Zippertubing is uniquely positioned for this topic because we possess many years of experience producing similar systems.  We have decades of experience utilizing similar military grade fabrics and conductive EMI shielding materials in a manufacturing environment.  Zippertubing already owns the capital equipment necessary to produce such a system without the need to subcontract the manufacturing portion of the effort.  This proposal offers the Navy a path forward with a manufacturing design partner with a proven history of producing quality military parts.  Collaborating with Zippertubing will offer reduced manufacturing risk, little to no overhead expenses, and shorter production lead times.  The benefits to Zippertubing include support developing a premium static dissipative material.  The researched material could easily be utilized by Zippertubing in designs for their existing customer base as well as new customers.
