Description

The Army’s FTUAS (Future Tactical Unmanned Aerial System) program is developing a new group 2 UAS.  This UAS has payload space available that can be used to provide increased capabilities to US Army’s combat brigades.  The Army’s PEO Aviation has identified the need for a Cross Domain Processing Solution (CDPS) that could provide onboard data processing of collected ISR data and other onboard data and systems.  Some of this data is classified at various levels (e.g. Top Secret (TS), Secret (S), etc.), hence the need for cross domain.  Architecture Technology Corporation (ATCorp) proposes OCCEAN, the Onboard Cross-Domain Cloud Environment for Aerial Nodes.  OCCEAN is a novel hardware and software solution to provide and efficiently manage shared compute resources onboard a FTUAS to run mission-specific software that analyzes, combines, and filters sensor and other data in real-time or near real-time according to changing needs over the course of missions, autonomously or under the control of mission commanders.
