Description

The domain of battle for missile defense, once focused around launch preparation and engaging targets after launch, must now extend temporally far before launch to ascertain the intent and actions of an adversary. While spatial data is becoming increasingly more available, there is no efficient way to look broadly and consistently across large spatial areas for structures/activities of interest for MDA. Current capability is limited in two ways: defense satellites do not provide consistent comprehensive coverage of all regions of interest, and the activity of searching for an element of interest, say a launcher, requires an intelligence analyst and is very labor/time intensive. This expanded Phase 2 SBIR effort, named Cloud Analytics for Missile Detection, Engagement and Neutralization (CAMDEN) takes advantage of emerging data and analytical methods to create a flexible and powerful new analytical capability for MDA. CAMDEN architecture includes three major elements – a cloud-based curated database of satellite and other relevant intelligence information, a set of unique artificial intelligence based algorithms that can act on the data to perform feature and event searches, and a multi-user interface terminal that connects users with the cloud to trigger analytical function and display results.
