Description
Areté with critical technical support from General Dynamics/Applied Physical Sciences (APS) proposes development of the Deep Ocean Communications (DOC) Buoy. The DOC Buoy is an expendable, deep ocean deployable, gateway buoy with a design leveraging Areté’s expendable communications (EDEX) and surface float (STRIDR) technologies. Once deployed, the DOC Buoy rises to the surface to establish two-way SATCOM communications along with acquiring its geolocation. Its onboard acoustic modem establishes communications with the underwater assets to broadcast position updates along with relaying command, control, and status messages. At the end of mission, the DOC Buoy scuttles on command.
