Description
Ear Melds are custom fit ear plugs or audio ear buds, equipped with health sensors such as a pulse oximeter, temperature sensor, and movement sensor. Custom fit hearing protection is already used by many air force users, such as pilots, high altitude jumpers, and special operators. Ear Melds is an improvement over other health sensor implementations because it puts the sensors in the ear, which is a much better location to perform most non-invasive measurements. Additionally, by sealing the ear canal with a custom fit plug, Ear Melds can stabilize and seal the sensor-body interface, reducing noise caused by movement against the skin, temperature variations, and ambient light variations.
