Description
The US suffers from shortages of many essential medicines and fine chemicals due to brittle offshore supply chains and loss of domestic production capacity. This situation threatens our national security because preferred medications are rationed and substitutions are often required for critical care. Continuity Pharma will address this issue by developing an innovative, modular, telescoped continuous synthesis unit for automated production of 4 fine chemicals within a flexible, highly-efficient apparatus capable of manufacturing rates of > 100 g/day. Our system will be configured for cleaning and conversion within 4 hours between production campaigns. During our Phase I effort, Continuity Pharma developed a continuous manufacturing prototype unit capable of producing a single fine chemical target in > 98% purity via an end-to-end process using commodity chemicals.
