Description
The ability to communicate; through voice, digital message or simply by position, is arguably, the most critical operational capability required of today's Army. However, this keystone Army function comes with a cost. Radio frequency (RF) communication is the most common technology utilized by the Army for most of its ongoing operations. Unfortunately, RF technology is susceptible to detection, jamming or interception by peer or near-peer adversaries. These drawbacks put soldiers’ lives at risk every time they push to talk or send data through a tactical network. There are several technologies currently deployed which have attempted to address the challenges posed by RF communication. These include traditional techniques such as frequency hopping, spread spectrum, attenuation control and other “band-aids” to address the known issues. The solution proposed by Converge Technologies utilizes the company’s work developing Pseudo-Random Noise (PSN) radars to create an innovative new RF communication technology which is extremely difficult to detect, jam or intercept by adversaries. Utilizing robust PSN, Converge’s solution produces RF emissions which fall well below the local spectrum’s “RF Noise” levels. The proposed solution is software definable which enables the system to also be utilized as a sensor system when applicable.
