Description

Cornerstone Research Group (CRG) proposes to integrate commercially available VACNT sheets to the ply interface of AFR-PE-4 based high temperature composites. These composite panels will be cure using standard polyimide bagging techniques and processes.  The resultant panels will be cut up for physical analysis and elevated temperature mechanical testing.  Vertically aligned carbon nanotubes (VACNT), located in the inter-ply region of the composite, have the potential to increase the elevated temperature through-thickness shear and compression properties of high temperature polymer matrix composites for use on next generation engines and other high temperature applications.
