Description

There are four key technical problems that this program must address: 1) Composition of sensor processing and flight control software elements into a workflow for each operational asset. For this program, the assets will be manned and unmanned aircraft. 2) A robust distributed processing architecture that can execute workflows without user intervention. 3) Automated provisioning of aircraft with mission plans and workflow code. 4) Composition of asset workflows into a mission package that can execute a coherent mission plan. DZYNE Technologies proposes an innovative research and development project that will prototype the Heterogeneous Intelligent Vehicle Ensemble Manager (HIVEMind). HIVEMind will deliver an integrated system that will address each of these technical challenges into a deployable software package that can be easily integrated into manned and unmanned aircraft. The system will extend and integrate a number of existing technologies developed by DZYNE Technologies with available open source software packages that we believe will address all of the technical challenges. HIVEMind will provide the necessary software for interfacing with the common aircraft and UAV hardware to ingest sensor streams and generate waypoints for use by common UAV autopilots. HIVEMind will be demonstrated in a live mission demonstration using manned and unmanned aircraft.
