Description

The research work that will be conducted in this Phase 1 effort will explore the development of a solution for Sensor suite for Ground Vehicle Survivability. The solution proposed in this Phase I effort implements are novel fused sensor system comprised of a radar subsystem, a camera array subsystem, an acoustic array subsystem, and a drone subsystem. These fused sensors systems will provide “context synthesis” to better inform vehicle crews with respect to the tactical situation. The system will provide full 360 degree azimuth and overhead look down coverage. These systems are fused via a deep-learning neural network that will reject clutter and classify targets. The subsystems will have the capability to cue each other. The proposed solution is also compatible with the Modular Active Protection Systems Framework. It will be shown that an agile software development and model-based design project development approach satisfies the requirements to effectively meet the objectives set out in the Phase I solicitation. Additionally, the research work presented in this proposal will form the basis on which further research could be carried out in Phases II and III. This approach emphasizes incremental and verifiable capability delivery by developing the proposed solution in small evolutionary steps using established best practices and design patterns.. The result of this Phase I effort will be the delivery of a prototype solution at the completion of Phase I and the associated contract deliverables to ensure a smooth Phase II transition.
