Description

The current state of practice for maritime Mine Countermeasures (MCM) involves cumbersome, expensive, and slow processes, often involving manned assets in the vicinity of potentially mined waters. Expendable UUV’s enable the delivery of MCM capabilities at a closer proximity to a mine than traditional sweeping systems, potentially allowing lower power output, significant reductions in cost, and the development of sweeping modalities beyond current programs of record. FTL Labs' "BubbleSpoof" is a pressure mine sweeping technology that enables "spoofing"  large-vessel pressure signatures from a miniaturized payload system in conformance with the size, weight, and power constraints of current UUV designs. BubbleSpoof is deployable at a sufficiently low price point to allow expendable UUVs to complete influence sweeping operations. Additionally, BubbleSpoof's innovative design insures that UUV mission performance is not impeded by its integration to current UUV platforms.  BubbleSpoof is based on prior FTL research that demonstrated initial feasibility through experimentation, prototypes, simulations, and full-scale wet demonstrations.
