Description
Electronics are used by asymmetric and peer/near-peer adversaries to detonate explosives, as well as for communication, and sensor and platform control. Often these electronics are difficult to detect using standard Electro-Optical/Infrared, Full-Motion Video, or radar products because the electronics are small and may be intentionally hidden. IMSAR’s Non-Linear Junction Detection (NLJD) solution provides a method to separate electronics from a scene and deliver this information similar to a Moving Target Indicator (MTI) detect or as a Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) image. IMSAR’s low-Size, Weight, and Power (SWaP) Extended Ultra-Wide Band (E-UWB) radar system is able to operate in multiple modes, including SAR imaging, Coherent and Magnitude Change Detection (CCD/MCD, Foliage Penetration (FOPEN), and Ground Penetration (GPEN), to detect people, equipment, weapons, and other objects and actions of interest, even when those objects are obscured. IMSAR’s E-UWB solution allows warfighters to detect and geolocate the harmonic signatures of the diodes within the electronics using NLJD from an airborne platform. In addition to identifying the location of enemy electronics, the detections can also be used to cross-cue other assets, like EO/IR or FMV sensors, or correlate the location of the electronics with other sensor information, such as Dismount MTI detects.
