Description
To address this Army need for a compact, efficient, field-harvesting power source, Intellisense Systems, Inc. (Intellisense) proposes to develop the (ETHER) Electro-Magnetic Harvester of Energy system based on a new design that adapts previously developed mature components in a new arrangement to achieve 10 mW-100 mW (or more) average power delivery under all environmental conditions and satisfy peak power requirements of 2 W or more. Specifically, innovations in electric-field and magnetic-field harvesting combined with low-loss rectification and optimal power transfer result in a system that can provide the power needed to operate advanced unattended sensors without requiring connection to line power, large storage batteries, or exposure to solar energy. In Phase I, Intellisense will perform theoretical analysis and demonstrate the feasibility of the ETHER by producing an initial prototype and comparing performance with theoretical calculations. In the Phase I Option, the prototype will be packaged for indoor or outdoor operation and tested for robustness under harsh conditions and high dynamic loads. In Phase II, Intellisense plans to fully develop the initial prototype into a set of five deliverable units for pre-qualification against MIL-STD-810G and MIL-STD-461F standards.
