Description

To address the Army need for a new hostile fire detection (HFD) and active protection system (APS) cueing and tracking sensor, Intellisense Systems, Inc. proposes to develop a new Compound-Eye Electro-optical Sensor for HOstile Threats (CEESHOT) system, based on a non-imaging array of two-color photodetectors. Specifically, the innovation in a multi-band, multi-aperture, non-imaging optical array with integrated processing using Kalman filters will enable the CEESHOT system to accurately detect, track, and classify threats to Army Fighting Vehicles (AFVs). CEESHOT will offer the Army a fast update rate, accurate staring hemispherical field of view sensor suite for HFD/APS cueing for improved vehicle and crew survivability. In Phase I, Intellisense will investigate and identify materials, packaging, design methodologies and critical design parameters for the CEESHOT system, analyze and model the far field performance of the proposed sensor for a variety of threat types, and build and test a breadboards prototype to prove the feasibility of the key design elements. The overall system design of a prototype CEESHOT that achieves the requirements and capabilities will be developed and reviewed at a Phase I preliminary design review (PDR). Intellisense will deliver a final report detailing design process, PDR, prototype design, and supporting data. In Phase II, we will finalize the initial design developed in Phase I and build a proof-of-concept prototype that is compliant with the MAPS Architecture Framework (MAF) for hardware-in-the-loop testing.
