Description

GPS is a critical piece of weapon and aviation navigation systems because of its global availability and high accuracy. Because of its vital role and relatively weak signal power, GPS is a target of electronics attacks (EA) that deny systems of positioning and timing capabilities. Additionally, with the rise of software defined radios the threat of spoofing continues to rise. The ability to develop robust methods of detecting and suppressing EA against GPS receivers are needed to ensure GPS’s availability and maintain situational awareness as the RF environment degrades. Integrated Solutions for Systems, Inc. (IS4S), with teammate Auburn University’s GPS and Vehicle Dynamics Lab (AU-GAVLAB) created a platform that advances the ability to developed techniques such as situational awareness, and jamming/spoofing mitigation, and threat geo-location. The system was designed to be open and transparent allowing full access to both high- and low-level data. This effort will integrate software defined GPS receivers into the AJ system for enhanced integrity and PNT SA information.
