Description
Tactical networks may involve very short lived links, either due to intentional connectivity patterns or external effects in congested and contest environments. Consequently, the underlying network may have intermittent connectivity. Traditional network protocols designed for static networks or mobile networks with slowly changing topology cannot support such networks with proper performance at low overhead. New protocols are ultimately needed for such networks. To address this critical need, Intelligent Automation, Inc. (IAI) propose to develop cross-layer micro-protocols for very short lived links (Short-Link) in wireless networks. The key innovation of Short-Link is to implement advanced protocols for short lived links to achieve reliable and efficient communications under interference and jamming effects.
