Description
Optical fibers with suppressed nonlinear effects are in great demand for transmitting high energy lasers for a long distance for DoD’s high energy laser systems. NP Photonics proposes to design and fabricate an optical fiber with ultra-low nonlinearity that can be used for high energy laser delivery. In this Phase I program we will design the specialty optical fiber and investigate the feasibility of fabricating this fiber. Ultra-low nonlinearity optical fibers meeting or exceeding the requirements of the Navy’s applications will be fabricated and characterized in Phase II.
